  • My Commute

As you may know, I walk to and from work every day, just shy of two miles each way. Along they way I see some pretty interesting things from time to time. Today I decided to take a camera and snap some pictures of some of the more interesting things I see every day. I took a bit of a meandering path just to get between landmarks that wouldn’t normally be on the same route. This got me a couple of extra “interesting” pictures. So, in roughly the order that I took them on my way home:

So, this sight was new just today, fate blessing my little photo safari if you will. There’s not really a whole lot to say about this… it’s a bike… in a tree. Those kids at the skate park drink about a gazillion energy drinks a day, and I suppose that this is the result of an unsupervised group of over-caffeinated teenagers in the last weeks of summer vacation.

This isn’t along my usual route, but I thought it was interesting enough to capture. I guess folks in this neighbourhood just aren’t fans of the shenanigans that city council gets up to form time to time.

I know what you’re thinking, “wow a house”. Yup, but that isn’t the interesting part. The interesting part is the sidewalk that you can see in the foreground. You can see that sidewalk because I’m standing on the road. I’m standing on the road because the sprinkler you see there is watering the sidewalk. That’s right folks, this is the home of somebody who thinks that they need to water their sidewalk. Somebody who thinks I should have to walk on the road because they are too damned lazy to water their boulevard by hand with a hose. If you happen to know the person who lives here (183 Mark St.), could you please tell them that they are idiots for me? Thanks.

This is a tree on the lawn in front of Algoma University. What’s that in the knot hole you ask? Let’s have a closer look, shall we?

Wow! I don’t know where to begin, other than to say that this little diorama/shrine has been here all summer. Multi-coloured stars hanging from spirally wire? Check! Tiny fertility goddess idol? Check! Face with blush and “kissy” lips drawn on the idol? Check! Crazy hippies.

This is a new version of an old piece of graffiti sprayed on the side of a catholic school near my house. As you can see, they covered the old one up, but you just can’t keep the cult of raptor jesus down.

Finally - and keeping with the graffiti theme - we have the “tag” of a local catholic gang. Evidently, these particular hoodlums should should go back to school, their spelling is atrocious!
